The 240Z was introduced in 1969 and was instantly a hit with its 2.4 litre engine producing 150 BHP and it came with a 5 speed gearbox. It also had fully independent suspension. The 240 was instantly a hit on the gruelling East African Safari Rally, on its first attempt in 1971 the 240Z it won Overall, Class, Team and Manufactures titles. Not only did it finish first it was also Second. In 1972 it was to be Fifth, Sixth and tenth place for the 240Z's but 1973 was another great year and they came back to take First, Second and Forth overall.
Built to period work specification using a RHD UK bodyshell stripped to bare metal and fully restored by The Z Farm with pictorial records. Further competition preparation was carried out by Kevin Bristow Motorsport, including chassis leg reinforcement and gusseting, seam welding, strengthening preparation for the Safety Devices 6 point rollcage with door bars. Paintwork was finished in Datsun Blue.
The 2.4 Litre straight six engine was fully rebuilt with a competition big valve cylinder head by DJ Road and Race Services. It was fitted with Ex Works Triple-Solex Carburettor to a Nissan Motorsport inlet manifold and fully balanced crankshaft, flywheel and clutch the car produces 210 BHP. This is matched to a 280 ZX Close ratio gearbox with competition clutch, distributing this power is a Nissan Motors R200 Limited Slip Differential.
Later in 2004 the 240 Z received another comprehensive rebuild by Mike Brown Rallying. With little use since this 240Z is still in very good condition and comes with a spares package including two gearboxes, numerous wheels and tyres and suspension.
Ready to rally this well prepared car has its MSA Log Book and Historic Rally Vehicle ID documents. Ideally suited for the East African Classic Rally where the 240Z's showed their form.
