Jaguar XJ220

Jaguar officially announced the XJ220 in 1989, but it was not until October 1991 that the public got their first look at the car. It was not what they had been promised, gone was the V12 and the All-Wheel-Drive system. It was deemed that the V12 was unable to produce the 500 + BHP required for the project and still meet the emission laws. It was replaced with a 3.5L V6 which was based on the 6R4 Metro engine of the mid 1980's, not though it featured two Garrett T3 Turbochargers and produced a massive 549 BHP and 473 lb-ft of torque.

Even though this power was well above expectations, mixed with the other features which were cut from the final car and a poor economic climate at the time of release meant some people didn't want to take the car. Some even tried to sue Jaguar but lost. A reported 281 cars were built at the purpose built facility near Oxford.

Jaguar also built a factory race version of the XJ220 which they ran at Le Mans in 1993. Unfortunately two of the three cars were retired but one did manage to continue to the finish and took a class victory, this was later revoked due to a technical infringement.

Jaguar only made 85 cars in RHD and this is one of only 3 cars to be in this colour combination. With only 5000 miles from new is in exceptional condition and is ready to be enjoyed.
